SUMMARY:Venezuela: Women in Prison and wider Human Rights Violations
DESCRIPTION:For almost three years\, the International Amnesty group focused on human rights violations against women\, has been following the individual case of Emirlendris Benítez. She was arbitrarily detained in 2018 and suffered multiple human rights violations in detention\, including torture\, gender-based violence and an unfair trial. On August 14\, 2026\, she was released as a “humanitarian measure\,” but she must report to a court every three months\, and the unjust verdict against her remains in effect.
